CULTURAL-HISTORICAL SITES - we went on a cultural-historical tour of Rijeka to see the main city sights. Students from our school prepared a City Scavanger Hunt. Using QR reader apps, children solved riddles, scored points and learnt about the cultural-historical sites of Rijeka.
Day 2 - 22 March 2022
MUSEUMS - we explored the city museums. During the visits, children had to listen carefully to the tour guide, find clues and answer them at a library quest in the Children's House and do a quiz using Quizizz on their mobile phones. After the tour, the children returned to school where they made a presentation using Projeqt about the torpedo which was invented in Rijeka. In the evening students visited Astronomical Centre where they reinforced their English vocabulary about space and astronomy.
Day 3 - 23 March 2022
LOCAL LEGENDS - Rijeka has many legendary stories. Croatian students presented them. After the presentation, the students chose one story and created front and back cover of it using Canva. During a break students played a friendly football match. In the evening we visited Opatija, a traditional seaside resort of German and Austrian emperors, to see its symbol - Maiden with the seagull, hear the legend behind it and find new clues. Later at school, students had a story night where each country presented one legend through storytelling, acting and dancing, while students made videos using Adobe Spark.
Day 4 - 24 March 2022
NATURAL TREASURE - we went on a trip to explore the oldest and largest national park in the Republic of Croatia, the Plitvice Lakes National Park. While exploring it, students did a scavenger hunt using GooseChase app on their mobile phones to reinforce their English vocabulary about nature. Also, they created short videos catching the beauty of this natural treasure using Animoto.
Day 5 - 25 March 2022
FROM HISTORY TO NOW - Students learnt about the importance of Baška tablet, they explored the Glagolitic script and learnt how to write their names using it. After the workshop, students made craft souvenirs - Glagolitic letters and patterns. Treasure hunt finale – final round of QR clues were placed around the school. Students worked in small groups to find the answers to all questions on their recording sheets. They scanned the QR code to find the answer for each corresponding question on their recording sheet. Solving all of them led them to the treasure.
